Protection and Equal Opportunities
Our programs prioritize equality and self-advocacy training, ensuring that refugee youth can navigate challenges and seize opportunities. By empowering youth to advocate for themselves, we prepare them to succeed academically, socially, and professionally.
We have heard the words again and again from refugee graduates: “We worked so hard—but no one will give us a chance.”
We all believe that work is dignity, independence, and hope. Yet the Voices of Refugee Youth report shows that even graduates are twice as likely to be unemployed as their peers. Discrimination, unclear regulations, and a lack of training hold them back.
This is the moment to act boldly. We can advocate for policies that protect equal employment rights, create vocational training aligned with the national economy, and build partnerships with businesses willing to open doors for young refugees.
We advocate for refugee youth to ensure equal access to opportunities and protection from exploitation and discrimination.
Therefore, the following rights are advocated:
Right to Non-Discrimination (ICESCR, Article 2)
Right to Protection from Exploitation and Abuse (ICESCR, Article 10)
Right to Work and Fair Employment (ICESCR, Article 6 and Article 7)
Right to Participate in Cultural and Social Life (ICESCR, Article 15; ICCPR, Article 27).
Right to an Adequate Standard of Living (ICESCR, Article 11)
