Claude Bigirimana

Claude Bigirimana is a dedicated refugee leader, transformational mentor, and ardent advocate for youth empowerment. Born and raised in an internally displaced persons camp in Burundi, he has spent his entire life as a refugee—an experience that has profoundly influenced his perspective, purpose, and approach to leadership.

His lived experience as a lifelong refugee has given him a deep understanding of the consequences of ineffective leadership and the pressing need for systemic change. Rather than be defined by adversity, Claude has drawn strength from it, emerging as a powerful voice for displaced and marginalized communities seeking dignity, opportunity, and transformation.

Claude is a committed changemaker and envisions a world in which refugee identity is not seen as a constraint but recognized as a wellspring of resilience, leadership, and hope.
